Hypoxemia
Hypoxemia, or reduced oxygen in the blood, can be caused by:
- Low partial pressure of atmospheric oxygen (e.g., high altitudes)
- Inadequate pulmonary ventilation (e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Reduced hemoglobin content in erythrocytes
- Decreased hematocrit
